My research examines how environmental change affects biodiversity, species interactions, ecosystem functioning, and the stability of ecological communities. Particular interests include chemical pollution, nutrient enrichment, altered hydrology, and habitat heterogeneity across aquatic ecosystems.
By combining field-based empirical data with food-web theory, ecological network analysis, trait- and phylogeny-based approaches, and computational modelling, this work explores both direct effects on sensitive species and indirect effects that propagate through ecological interactions. A central focus is understanding which species, interactions, and community properties shape vulnerability, resistance, recovery, and resilience.
Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield, working on the UKRI-NERC project Assessing and Managing the Impacts of Mixtures of Chemicals on UK Freshwater Biodiversity in a Changing World. The broader aim is to develop mechanistic ecological predictions that support environmental risk assessment and ecosystem management under global change.
